Quality Inn
Options: The old holiday in ~ now the Quality Inn is down the street and across the fwy from the River Raisin Golf club. It has a large indoor pool where we could play cards poolside but is rather institutional in feel and expensive at @89/room. They offer a big breakfast as part of the fee.

America’s Best Value Inn
America’s Best Value Inn is a bit funkier, but with nice landscaping, picnic tables and grills. Each room opens to the outside rather than the institutional sterile halls of the QI ~ there is a laundry room, continental breakfast, wireless, cable/HBO, a mini refrigerator and microwave in each room; lite continental bfast incl.. The would give us Single room (king bed): 42.99+tax, double room (2 full beds) $ 47.99+tax ~ there is a short pathway to an outdoor pool (to see go to photos and click on pool) at the Red Roof Inn, very small pool more for playing than swimming, but cute and with outside tables where one could play cards.

Drawback – rooms are a bit stale from having had smokers over the years… however it is nicely located right in a cluster with several restaurants including the Red Lobster, and right across from the River Raisin Golf Club (all w/in walking distance) and the entrance to our lovely Sterling State Park.

Camping/fishing/hiking trails:
Sterling State Park: Size: 1,300 acres. Location: In Monroe County, northeast of I-75 Exit 15, Facilities: 256 modern campsites, picnic area, 2 picnic shelters, playground, 3 fishing piers, boat launch, multi-use trails (wheelchair access). Activities: Camping, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, wildlife viewing, interpretive programs. Special Features: Michigan’s only state park on Lake Erie, Park is along the major flyway for migratory birds and a great place to see waterfowl, raptors, song birds, and wetland plants.
